Steve Street

Steve was born in north west London, before eventually escaping and undertaking an undergraduate Masters degree in chemistry at the University of Reading. After briefly working for CEM Analytical Services, he continued his journey westward, undertaking his PhD at the Bristol Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral Training. Steve joined the group of Prof. M. Carmen Galan, developing carbohydrate based small molecule ligands for G-quadruplex DNA and cancer therapy. Steve joined the Manners group in 2017 as an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow, and in 2019 continued his westward quest, making the big jump to Victoria, BC. Steve’s research is focussed on developing polymers for the intracellular delivery of nucleic acids. Outside of the lab, Steve enjoys running, cooking, travelling, brewing, gaming, and mourning the loss of his 19 year old Alfa Romeo.
