Thomas Zimmermann

Thomas was born in Bayreuth in Germany and spent his childhood in a small village nearby. After his apprenticeship as a Paint Laboratory Technician and two years of work experience, he decided that he wanted to learn more and started his studies to be a State-certified Technical Engineer in the field of chemistry in Bochum. After that he enrolled at the University of Würzburg for his Bachelor of Science in chemistry. During his bachelor thesis, while in the group of Tobias Brixner, he created a setup for the 3D movement of a sensor in the ultra-high vacuum of a photo emission electron microscope to analyze the shapes of laser pulses. As a part of his master studies at the University of Würzburg, he joined the Manners group in February of 2020, working in the field of crystallization driven self-assembly. Outside of the lab he likes strategy games of all kinds, game nights with friends and to explore the new city.
