Personal Game Performance

Personal Performance and Game play:  45% of course mark.

(a) Playing ability                                                                                             25%
This will be awarded in relation to the course criteria developed from the one to nine scale in PE117. For this course the criteria is divided into the following four areas: (1) Drives, (2) Net-play, (3) Service, and (4) Doubles play .  Players are expected to keep a personal record of each game/task in their player log.  Players must report to course instructor of their progress in each criteria area.  To pass player must have an outline of the game/task and perform at the level indicated for each criteria area.

Player Log

Based on the basic task model presented in PE452 students will be expected to record every game/task progression taught in the class.  These game/tasks will be repeated and extended as the course develops.  The idea is to have a record of effective games and progressions to use and adapt when teaching students from local schools.  It is estimated that 10-12 game/task progressions will be used throughout the course.

Sheet should contain:

q       GAME Diagram.

q       Aim and 3 basic rules

q       Skill Analysis.  On –the –ball and Off-the-ball movement

q       Tactical Awareness cues: Space, force, Time in relation to Self and Other.

See outline sheet p. 9 of course outline and WORD version on-line.  This can be adapted as needed.

Practical assessment criteria (the following are .pdf files)

(b) Game play analysis                                                                                     20%
Adapting the game performance assessment inventory (GPAI) used in PE452 students will be assessed by a peer twice in singles and/or doubles.  To pass a player must show evidence of improvement or repeat the process until improvement is made.  After each assessment session students must put GPAI sheet and feedback in player log along with their own personal reflection.  Students can expect to get 20/20 for this assignment if completed professionally as described.
