Midterms, Quizzes and Final Exam

Students will be responsible for material covered in the lectures, the relevant chapters of the textbook, and suggested assignments. You are responsible for adhering to the academic regulations of the University of Victoria, particularly with regard to scholarly integrity. Please review the Academic Regulations section of the University Calendar with particular attention to the section of Plagiarism and Cheating. Weights for these components and procedures regarding missed examinations are provided in the Grading section.

Midterm tests will be given outside of regular class time. The dates are:

  • Midterm Test I: Friday October 13
  • Midterm Test 2: Friday November 17

Midterm tests will be composed of a combination of multiple-choice and written answers.

Quizzes will be done on-line using the WebCT system. You must complete the quizzes according to the schedule.

A separate sheet of instructions will be provided regarding access to the quizzes. Although you may complete suggested assignments with your study group, you are expected to complete the on-line quizzes individually.

Midterm test and quiz dates may be altered at the Course Coordinator’s discretion.

The final examination will be scheduled by the Office of the Administrative Registrar sometime between December 4 and December 18. End of term travel plans should not be made prior to the publication of the final examination schedule. Requests for early exams will not be considered. Deferred exams are usually written in mid-January and are permitted because of illness, not because of travel plans. Do not make travel plans until the preliminary exam timetable has been published, usually by the second week of October.
