Prerequisites

Mathematics 12 and Chemistry 11 or 12 or their equivalents. Students without Chemistry 12 (or equivalent) must take and pass Chemistry 091 and Chemistry 101 before enrolling in Chemistry 102. Chemistry 091 is a tutorial course that will assist students in mastering the material from Chemistry 12 that is important for successfully completing Chemistry 101 and Chemistry 102.

Expected Background: Chemistry 11 and Chemistry 12 cover the following topics: The mole concept and stoichiometry, the periodic table and naming of compounds, simple atomic structure and molecular bonding, solutions of ionic substances, chemical equilibrium, acids, bases and salts, oxidation and reduction, simple electrochemistry, simple reaction kinetics.
