The block plan is an outline of a potential progression for the unit.
Links on block plan go to task/game sheets.  The task/game sheets contain teaching points, organization pointers, diagrams and images or video clips.
 
 

Lesson 1  Tactical Problem Create space by passing the ball to other players and dribbling the ball.  Lesson focus: Passing and Driblling ie:ball control. Introductory task/game Jogging around the field twice Head to toe stretching Small game of tag Skill/Concept development tasks/games Groups of three pass, dribble using various techniques ex: instep, chip, dribble with both feet etc... throw-ins in the same manner follow your ball when passing Culminating Game  Large full field soccer game 11 vs. 12 begin game with assigned positions and rotate often this game will allow for the students to recognize the importance of the tactical awareness needed in the game of soccer		Lesson 2  Tactical Problem Creating Pressure & eliminating attacker's options  Lesson focus: Jockeying & Defending Introductory task/game Lose your shadow in the grid begin with no balls progress to ball handling (1 ball per student) Skill/Concept development tasks/games Review content of Lesson #1 Demo jockeying 1 ball per pair jockey with the ball handler, switch on whistle Culminating Game  1. Open ended soccer with a Goaltaker 2. 4 on 4 Fixed net soccer (no goalies) Queen of the grass competition
Lesson 3  Tactical Problem Where to shoot on the net to be successful  Lesson focus: Shooting Introductory task/game Follow the leader in a grid Review previous lesson content Skill/Concept development tasks/games Shooting Drills players shoot on goal from different locations Techniques: hard shot, light shot, Placement: low/high and to the corners Culminating Game  4 on 4 Fixed Goal Fixed goals, no goalies Queen of the grass competition		Lesson 4 Tactical Problem Decrease attacking options by locating and taking away open space  Lesson focus: Defense & Jockeying Introductory task/game Bean bag toss In partners, follow the leader One bean bag per pair Toss bag to partner on whistle Skill/Concept development tasks/games Corner passing 3 players passing and 1 defending Pass to open space Defend open space Begin with bean bag & progress to soccerball Mini Games 2 on 1 & progress to 3 on 2 Pressure ball handler and force attack to the outside Locate and take away open space Culminating Game  Open ended 4 on 4 with goaltaker Must pass three times before scoring 4 on 4 Fixed goal soccer Must pass three times before scoring Each player on the team must touch the ball before scoring
