The Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair will be an in-person event.
Class visits can be requested for Monday, April 12, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Deadlines for the Science Fair

 
Important Dates
January 22 Registration opens
January 22 Deadline for making a Request for Ethics Approval
All projects that involve humans, animals or microorganisms require an Ethics Approval.
Get this BEFORE you start your project.
NOTE THIS IMPORTANT DATE
February 26 Deadline for Project Registration
This includes: student info, project info – titles, etc.
March 12 Deadline for $35 Fee Payment and Submission of Complete Project Package
Email your completed Registration Package to rmmarx@uvic.ca
*** Include : Student’s “lastname_firstname + School name“ in the subject line of the email
February 23 Registration for judging opens:
April 1 Registration for judging ends:
April 12 Fair opens – Round 1 Judging in the morning
Round 2 and Specialty judging in the afternoon
Fair open to the public in the afternoon
April 13 Fair open to Public and School Tours
 Awards Ceremony – Winners announced!

On-line Registration Link:
No projects will be accepted after the registration deadline.

Project Submission Package:

The following must be in the registration package

  1. Poster board submission
    NOTE: The PDF file name must begin with the student’s “lastname_firstname”
  2. PDF copy of the Signed permission and declarations form from the Youth Science Canada site
    (from teacher & both sets of parents for a dual project)
  3. Registration Fee per exhibit – all grades ($35 online). See note below.

    (Include student’s “lastname_firstname” + school name in the subject line)

Registration fee payment:

  • Online: $35
    Payment of $35 is online via the VIRSF CanadaHelps Link.
    This link can also be reached using the DONATE button on the Home Page.
    In the “Message for SAYS” box include “Registration fee for – name of student(s) and the school”
    THESE ARE FIRM DEADLINES – NO EXCEPTIONS

No project will be allowed in the fair if your registrations, information package and fees
are not received and completed by the stated deadlines.
