Management Suggestions
1) Equipment:
-Place a hula-hoop in the middle of the gym where you would like students to make a circle. This way students can only come in to the edge of the circle and will not run into each other.
-Cones can be use to mark off the space of the gym to create limited space for the dance, otherwise students may go all over the gym.
2) Teaching Space:
-This dance works better when done in a limited amount of space. Younger students tend to want to spread out to the edges when given the opportunity which makes it more difficult for the students to get into a large circle in 16 counts.
3) Grouping:
-Pairs for the intro and lead and follow part of the dance.
-Whole group for circle part of the dance
4) Pacing:
-The students may need more time to get into a large circle.
5) Cues:
-Cues can be given to help student know when to move as Pooh or the Woozle. One hit of the clogs can signal the Poohs to move, and two hits of the clog can signal Woozles to move.
