The Story

Pooh’s Song Story

I would like to tell you a story about a bear who loves honey!  Does anyone here like honey?  Well, this bear loves Honey so much that he takes his honey jar with him where ever he goes.  Some of you may know this bear.  His name is Winnie the Pooh.  Pooh bear, however, is not the only one who loves honey this much.  There are animals named Woozles and Heffalumps who would do anything to get Pooh’s honey from him.  Heffalumps and Woozles look a like elephants but have polka dots and bright colors.  The story I am going to tell you have Woozles and Heffalumps in it.  In fact, the story is about Pooh’s encounter with the Woozles and Heffalumps.

 Here goes…

One day Winnie the Pooh wanted to go to see his friend Piglet who lived a little ways away from his house.  So Pooh grabbed his honey jar and sent off on his way.  Of course, like anyone who loved honey as much as he did, Pooh would get a craving for honey and have to stop along the way to have a taste.  However, on this day, when Pooh went to visit his friends, he was being followed.  Can you guess who by?  Who ever it was wanted his honey!  That’s right, the Heffalumps and Woozles.

Well every time Pooh stopped to eat some of his honey the Woozles and Heffalumps would sneak right up behind Pooh to get close to the honey jar… close enough to grab it right out of Pooh’s hands!  So Pooh traveled down the path to Piglets with the Heffalumps and Woozles following right behind him.

Now, as an unsuspecting bear, Pooh was very surprised when a Woozle took his honey right from out of his hands.  Poor Pooh was very upset and sad and the Woozle was very happy because now he had the honey jar.  Pooh, however, was not going to let the Woozle get away with taking his precious honey jar, so Pooh decided to follow the Woozle and get his honey jar back, just as the Woozle had done to Pooh earlier.

So on down the path the Woozle walked, stopping once and a while to sample the honey, and there was Pooh creeping up behind him to get his honey jar back.  And sure enough, Pooh did!  Now Pooh couldn’t be happier to have his honey back. Pooh was so happy he wanted to Dance.

And that is just want he did.  When he got to Piglet’s Pooh told him of what happened on his journey, about meeting the Woozle and how the Woozle stole his honey jar and about how he got it back.  But Pooh did not tell his story with words.  He decided to show Piglet through a dance.  And it is the dance of Pooh’s encounter with the Woozle that we are going to learn and tell the story to an audience later once we have learned the entire dance.
