Introduction to the Dance

This movement sequence is developed from Eve Bunting's In the Haunted House.  The book is suitable for primary students because it provide students with a familiar set of vocabulary (action words).  It is also a very engaging story that allows for prediction and creativity.  The dance sequence utilizes basic movements and relationship concepts of meeting and parting, following and matching that the students can develop and embellish to take ownership of their dance.

Suggestions on how to use the dance:

This dance can be used for a culminating activity for activities based on a fall or Halloween theme.  This would also work well for an activity on beat or rhythm patterns.
