Why I want to teach Physical Education
Having a considerable amount of energy and a reasonable amount of talent at a young age, I was drawn to sport and being active. As I grew into an avid basketball player as a teenager I matured taking the valuable lessons the good teachers and coaches taught me, while also remembering the negative experiences. Drawing on this intuition it was clear early that I would be involved in sport and PE in some capacity. However, it was not until after high school that I knew that I could make a difference in society by becoming a physical educator. This conclusion came with my disgust for western society, and our gluttonous and capitalist ideals. Measuring success through material and disregarding other key components in everyday life, the profound health benefits that physical activity brings to us has been put on the back burner. Our society has regressed and is in the midst of an obesity epidemic, a sedentary status quo and a public that is overall unhealthy. This phenomenon needs to be curbed. Games, activity and fun for all learners is my initiative, the current system needs to be changed and I am one of many who need to tear it down and revolutionize our expertise.
