Lesson 4
Introductory task/game :
 
Grid to Grid dribbling drill
 
Description of game : The object of the drill is to dribble from one grid to the other through a set of cones as fast as possible but only one person at a time.
 
Aim : To maintain control of the ball while getting your team through the cones into opposite grid before other team.
 
Structure : Class is divided into two groups and split into seperate grids. Cones are placed in between the grids for the class to dribble through as they move from one grid to the other.
 
Rules : Students must be dribbling continuously inside their own grid, upon hearing the whistle they must dribble from one grid to the other in single file navigating through a set of cones as quickly as possible. Control of the ball must be maintained at all times.
 
Key tactical and skill application : Ball control and on the ball movements.
 
Skill/Concept development tasks/games :
 
Slalom relay
    
Description of task : Students are split into four groups of ~ 7. Each group is paired up with another group that they will run the relay with, they line up facing each other on either side of a line of cones that they must dribble through and then complete a pass to the next person in line from about 10 ft. away
 
Aim : To dribble the ball and complete an accurate pass as quickly as possible as it is a relay
 
Structure : Class is divided into to opposing squares, between the squares cones can be set up in a gate or slalom formation.
 
Key tactical and skill application : Creating space, maintaining ball possession, and attacking the goal.
 
 
 
Culminating Game:
 
6 V 6 mini soccer
    
Aim : Replicate actual game play.
 
Structure : Create mini fields an appropriate size to accommodate 6 v 6 game play.
 
Rules : Standard soccer rules, no hands, no body contact. Rules can be added and/or modified as game progresses.
 
Key tactical and skill application :  Invading opponents space in order to score.
