While teaching English or other languages such as Japanese, Korean, or Spanish is a frequent goal of Applied Linguistics students, a Degree or Diploma in this field opens the door to many other pursuits:

speech therapy, lexicography, text writing, language revitalization projects, theatre speech coach, language program planning and development, web-connected on-line instruction, and advertising -- are just a few of the career paths connected to Applied Linguistics.

Our graduates teach in ESL/EFL and language teacher training programs in virtually every province from B.C. to Quebec to Newfoundland, and around the globe in places as far away as Australia, New Zealand, Nepal, Turkey, Russia, the UAE, and the USA.

Note: An up-to-date file of local, national, and international positions that seek Applied Linguistics Graduates is available in the department for use by both today’s students and by graduates of our programs.
