Modified from Paul Smith class lesson.
Purpose
This drill continues with previous tactical skills of movement and skill selection, but now students are moving more towards a full game form.  This drill includes basic positioning (serve receive, setter at net) and also begins to develop the team aspect of play.

    On-the-ball skills
        Sending (toss, forearm or overhead)
        Receiving (catch, forearm or overhead)

    Off-the-ball movements

        Movement in all directions

Description
Student A tosses or underhand serves the ball over the net.  Student B hits a forearm or overhead pass to Student C who catches the ball and rolls it under the net to Student A.  This is repeated for 5 successful passes to the target and then roles switch.
Aim of the Game:
Successful serve receive to a target (setter).
Rules
1.    Ball must be served underhand or tossed
2.    Student on serve receive must use a forearm or overhead pass
3.    Ball must be passed above the height of the net

Organization
This can be demonstrated with the teacher in the place of student C.  Then students will find a group of 3 and a place on the net where they can pass - students can work on either side of the net in order to have more space.

During the demonstration the teacher must show the connection between this activity and a volleyball game: how the serve receive starts the play and accurate passes are needed to create an attack.
Questioning / Cues

Why do you want to hit the ball high to your target? To give your teammates more time to read and react to the ball.
