Section 5.1 Describing Surfaces Explicitly, Implicitly and Parametrically

Let's begin by just seeing the three ways to describe a surface: explicitly, implicitly, and parametrically. Some surfaces like the cone we will see in this video can be reasonably described in multiple ways. In others, the surface is more naturally described using use one of the methods, and specifically when parameterizing a surface we are often trying to look for natural symmetries to exploit in our description.
Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe a surface implicitly, explicitly, and parametrically
  2. Convert between a graphical representation of a surface and an algebraic one
